Vizhinjam Village
The village is famous for its Cave Temple with unfinished carvings of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. People also love to visit the Marine Aquarium of the village that displays a wide variety of marine life like squirrel fish, moon wrasse, butterfly fish, lion fish and giant turtles. Even the images of Jesus Christ, Virgin Mary, Hindu Gods and Goddesses are depicted in the form of pearls in the aquarium.


Shopping
One can see a number of shopping places lined across the beach. This is an ideal place to pick up various artifacts in handicrafts and good quality spices. Apart from that, rosewood and teakwood statues are also popular at Kovalam.

How To Get There

By Air: Trivandrum Airport (16 km) is the nearest airport from Kovalam, which has direct flights to all the major cities in India. It can be accessed by a taxi (fare- Rs. 300) or a city bus (fare- Rs. 10).

By Rail: Trivandrum Central Station is the nearest railhead, which is connected to all the important rail junctions in the country.

By Road: Kovalam has a good network of roads. State buses and Inter State buses have regular services.
