Offering panoramic views of the blissful surroundings, Marina beach is the place where you can enjoy charm of the mesmerizing blue sea to your heart's content. It is the second largest beach in the world and is largest in Asia. Any tourist coming to Chennai rarely give a miss to this wonderful beach. Located on the eastern side of Chennai, adjoining the Bay of Bengal, the beach leaves visitors in a state of hypnotism with its sunset and sunrise views. So its better to carry several film rolls with you before visiting the beach. It is advised to take extreme care while indulging in bathing and swimming at the beach as the undercurrent is very strong.

The beach is lined up with various stalls where you can get tasty snacks and several  other shopping items. The local vendors sells a variety of objects like arresting sea shells, glass baubles, kites, jewelery and other decorative items. You can take back such souvenirs, which will always remind you of your visit to this fascinating beach. 

Marina beach offers safe environment for a variety of recreational activities. A visit to this beach is itself an adventure but for some more adventure you can go for a pony ride. This is something, which both adults and children enjoy. Sometimes the beach becomes the venue for the celebration of the state cultural functions. In the evening or in the early morning take a stroll through the beach and experience the beauty of nature in depth. Just imagine you along with your beloved walking hand in hand in moonlit night, enjoying the views of shimmering sea and sky studded with stars. How romantic!

Aquarium
Located near the beach, the aquarium boasts of a wonderful collection of tropical and sea fishes.

The Ice House
Located near the aquarium is The Ice House, which at one point of time used to store ice imported from Great Lakes in North America.

Vivekananda House
It is the sacred place where Swami Vivekananda lived for a few days in 1897. This House serves as a venue for several painting and art exhibitions touching the themes like life, religion and mission of Swami Vivekananda.
